In addition to the general Orc’s World server rules, players participating in the SMP (Survival Multiplayer) gamemode must adhere to these additional rules specific to the SMP experience. These rules are designed to ensure fair play, positive interactions, and a balanced survival environment for everyone. Violating these additional rules may result in consequences, including warnings, mutes, or bans, depending on the severity of the offense.
1. Griefing
Griefing is the act of destroying, damaging, or stealing from another player's build, items, or land. While unclaimed areas are not protected and players can technically destroy or alter things there, intentionally causing major disruptions can still be considered griefing and lead to penalties. Major disruptions include actions that harm the gameplay experience for others, such as destroying large portions of land, creating unmanageable traps, or interfering with a player’s ability to build or enjoy the game. Griefing is not allowed in claimed areas, so always respect other players' builds and land claims. If you’re building outside a claimed area, your structures are vulnerable.
Examples of rule violations:
- Lava casting or flooding large areas with lava to destroy multiple bases or large sections of terrain, especially near someone’s claimed area.
- Destruction of large areas of land just to annoy or prevent others from building, especially near or at the borders of claimed land.
- Spamming destructive blocks, such as TNT or bed explosions, over a large area to cause massive destruction.
- Building enormous, unbreakable traps that entrap other players or make it impossible for them to escape or recover their items.
- Lava casting at the borders of someone's claim to intentionally destroy their base, even though it’s technically outside the claim, would be seen as a major disruption.
- Massive land clearing that creates a barren wasteland or destroys valuable resources, especially near other players' builds, can be considered a major disruption.
- Dropping TNT over an extensive area to cause random destruction or frustration for other players.
2. Pets, Animals, and Name-tagged Mobs
You cannot harm or steal pets, animals, or name-tagged mobs that belong to other players. These are considered the personal property of the player who owns them. Taking or harming another player’s pets or name-tagged mobs is a rule violation and will result in punishment.
Examples of rule violations:
- Don’t kill or steal someone’s pet dog, cat, or horse.
- If a player has name-tagged mobs like named cows or pigs, you are not allowed to harm them or take them.
3. Player Graves and Spawn Killing
You are allowed to guard graves, but you should not block or claim around them in a way that prevents others from accessing their graves. Spawn killing, which is when you kill players right after they respawn, is also prohibited. Players should be allowed to recover their items and enjoy the game without being disrupted by unfair spawn camping or blocking access to graves.
Examples of rule violations:
- Don’t build walls or claim land that blocks other players from accessing their graves.
- Don’t camp at a spawn point and kill players right after they respawn.
4. PvP Mode
PvP (Player vs. Player) combat is only allowed when PvP Mode is activated. When PvP Mode is on, players can engage in combat in both claimed and unclaimed areas. However, PvP Mode should never be abused to intentionally disrupt the gameplay or experience of others.
Abusing PvP Mode includes things like using it to harass players who are not interested in PvP, repeatedly harassing someone who has no intention of fighting, or trying to cause frustration in areas where combat is not expected. The goal is to allow PvP combat in a fair, controlled manner, but not to ruin the experience for others who may not want to engage in PvP.
Examples of rule violations:
- Engaging in PvP for the sake of annoying or frustrating others, especially when they have no desire to fight, is not acceptable.
- If a player is in the middle of building, exploring, or doing non-combat activities, attacking them without warning is considered harassment.
- Harassing players who are gathering resources, working on a build, or generally trying to enjoy the game is disruptive. You are not allowed to use PvP to “camp” near these areas and force players to engage in combat when they don’t want to.
- If a player is not in PvP Mode, you should never attack or engage with them, even in unclaimed areas. If a player has PvP Mode disabled, do not use this as an opportunity to kill or steal from them.
- PvP Mode should not be used as a tool for griefing, such as attacking players just to steal their items, destroy their builds, or cause frustration.
- PvP Mode should not be used to camp near spawn points and repeatedly kill players as they respawn. Players should be allowed to recover their items and play the game without constant interruptions from hostile PvP players.
If you are found to be abusing PvP Mode by harassing players, repeatedly harassing non-combat players, or otherwise disrupting the experience of others, you will be penalized. This may include temporary or permanent PvP Mode restrictions, warnings, or bans, depending on the severity of the abuse.
5. Miscellaneous
All server rules apply to the SMP game mode, in addition to these specific rules. If an action negatively impacts the experience of others but isn’t specifically mentioned here, staff will handle it according to general server guidelines. The goal is for everyone to have a fun, fair, and enjoyable experience.
